Happy Holidays from the UFC –This card is stacked!
Wanderlei Silva Vs. Quinton Jackson
The fight I am really excited to see happens to be the Silva - Jackson bout. I would just love to see these two warriors put up the fight of the night, probably won’t happen with Griffin and Evans on the same card, but wishful thinking is my forte. I like both fighters’ styles and technique, but I will have to put my money on Jackson for this one. His two previous losses to Silva were when both fighters were at different levels in their careers. More recently, Jackson’s loss against Griffin in UFC 86 was substandard for him and I am certain that he is coming back for what he believes is his, his title…The CHAMP. "The Axe Murderer" is still a dangerous opponent for “Rampage” and he will not make this an easy fight for him. Coming off a devastating knockout win over Jardine in the 1st round at UFC 84, Silva is looking to take his game to the next level, which makes for a great fight! But either way, whoever wins this fight is defiantly in title contention.
– Going with Jackson by decision
Forrest Griffin Vs. Rashad Evans
This fight has the potential of being the fight of the night! I am hoping we have a stand-up ~ toe-to-toe brawl like the first Bonnar – Griffin fight. This is unlikely Griffin’s tactic knowing Evans KO power, but again wishful thinking. I believe this may be the fight of Griffin’s life; defending his belt for the first time can be strenuous (ask GSP).
He is probably going to be safe and keep distance with kicks and jabs, but safe will not cut it this time, Evans is relentless. I hate to say Evans for the fight because Griffin has so much spunk and charisma, a fan favorite. But fights are not about charm, as we all know. Just look a Rashad’s record (17-0-1); he is a showboating machine…not my cup of tea, I prefer class and passion.
– Evans by KO
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira Vs. Frank Mir
– Nogueira by submission of the night!
CB Dollaway Vs. Mike Massenzio

Cheick Kongo Vs. Mostapha Al Turk

Yushin Okami Vs. Dean Lister

Antoni Hardonk Vs. Mike Wessel
– Mike Wessel by TKO
Matt Hamill Vs. Reese Andy
– Matt Hamill by TKO (G&P)

NEW EPISODE! TSP SPORTS Episode 1: Nicklow vs Rivera
In addition to metal and comedy, we at TSP are also avid fight fans, whether it be MMA , boxing, or two bums wrestling over a dollar. So, to make a long story short, we have decided to do the occasional piece on fighters. To kick off this new venture, Bubbs phoned up this season's Ultimate Fighter winner Amir Sadollah and fired some questions at him. Here's what the UFC's new funny guy/badass had to say about fighting, the importance of a healthy sense of humor, and growing up in the 80's.
TSP: First off, let me start off by saying congratulations on winning The Ultimate Fighter. Things must be getting pretty crazy for you, huh?
Amir: Yeah, it's slowly starting to sink in. There are a few little life changes happening, it's wild.
TSP: Your fights on the show were epic, and you were always seen as the under dog. I could swear, every time you had your hand raised, that song from The Karate Kid ("You're the Best Around" ) was going to start playing for you. You were totally Laruso-rific .
Amir: Hahahahaha !!! Come to think of it, I should have rocked the headband. Strike first, strike hard, NO MERCY !!!
TSP: You seem to have a rapier wit and strong sense of humor about you. Has this always been a big part of you, or did it develop out of necessity ?
Amir: I would say that a healthy sense of humor has always been a part of my personality. You get out of life what you put into it, and it makes life a bit easier if you can find humor in it. When I started fighting and getting my name out there, I got a little more comfortable with being funny in public.
TSP: What made you want to become a fighter ?
Amir: It was something I fell into gradually. I was 22 when I found out there was a Muay Thai place here (Richmond, VA) , and when I checked it out I knew that was what I wanted to do . Also, like almost any dude my age who grew up watching Bloodsport and movies like that, I would be in the back yard practicing my moves. Most kids grow out of that stuff, I guess I never did. When I first started doing it, I didn't go into with the intention of becoming a professional, things just kind of snowballed into where they are now.
TSP: This season of UF was already entertaining enough with two characters like Forrest and Rampage, but throwing you into the mix made for television gold. Was it tough to maintain positive out look while being trapped in a house full of dudes all wanting to get a crack at you ?
Amir: I would say that I had to force myself to keep a good perspective on things. I was really happy to be able to be there, and kept reminding myself that I was doing something good. Of course there were times when a lot of us got a little restless and just felt like going home, but we all pulled it together and stuck it out.
TSP: I noticed that you were never one of the maniacs getting wasted and tearing shit apart.
Amir: I promised my mom I wouldn't break anything. But, I'm not going to say that if I had lost one of my fights, I wouldn't have been in there at some point. After about two weeks in though, you start to get a little stir crazy and start to miss your family and friends. I can't imagine how some of the guys who had kids must of felt. Since I kept on winning my fights, I just remained focused and told myself that it was only six weeks of my life, there will be plenty of time for other things.
TSP: Before choosing the way of the Samurai, did you ever think about pursuing a career in comedy or acting ?
Amir: I think that if you are going to be in the public eye, then you kind of have to have that entertainer mentality. You want to make fans and give them something to enjoy. I won't say that something like that wouldn't be cool to do, but fighting and training has always been what I found to be truly rewarding.
TSP: Do you have a fallback career, any degrees or anything?
Amir: No, not really. I don't want to sound like an after school special, but fighting has taught me that if you want to do something enough, you can. Had I not followed this particular path, I think med school would have been cool, or something like that.
TSP: MMA fighters train constantly, and music is a big factor in motivation for some. Is there anything in particular , musically, that really gets you going ?
Amir: I wouldn't say that I am partial to any certain styles or genres. I'm kind of a junk food music guy, I like it all pretty much. As long as it has a good vibe that I can get into, that's cool with me.
TSP: So you were probably never in any bands or anything then ?
Amir: Haha ! Here's a little obscure factoid about me. When I was in middle school, some of my friends and I started a band called Deep Gash, and I was going to be the bassist. We never actually played a song and it never got past the bus, but we talked about it all the time. But for all intensive purposes, I was the bass player for Deep Gash.
TSP: I could tell by your MySpace profile that you are proud to have grown up in the 80's and early 90's. What are some of the things from your youth that you still hold dear ?
Amir: Oh, the usual, Transformers, Voltron, ninja movies, Muppets, GI Joe, Gem. You know you watched Gem, don't lie.
TSP: I won't ask you who you are fighting next, as there are probably a million people trying to extract that information, but can we expect to see you back in action soon ?
Amir: I honestly don't know. I haven't heard for certain when I will fight next, but I'm hoping it is sometime soon, maybe in the fall . Right now, I have just been training and preparing for when they (UFC) ask me to compete again.
TSP: Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, is there anything you would like to leave with your fans and ours ?
Amir: I can't really think of anything funny to say, but I would like to thank my family and friends for sticking by me through everything. Thanks to the UFC for giving me such a tremendous opportunity. I also want to say thanks to all my fans who have been really supportive and those who left me all the comments and messages, you guys are amazing and I will try not to let you down. Oh… and thank you for the interview.
Amir Sadollah has definitely got what it takes to become a huge star in the UFC. If anything, maybe Deep Gash will get together for a reunion tour. Hahaha. I would like to thank Amir for being such a rad person and showing love to TSP.
